Urban to manage four PA Turnpike reconstruction projects

Urban has been selected by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to provide project management services for the design development of four full depth, total Turnpike roadway reconstruction projects with an estimated construction value of $500 million: Ten miles in Lawrence and Beaver counties, eight miles in Allegheny County, ten miles in Westmoreland and Somerset counties, and fourteen miles in Chester County

Urban will act as the Commission's agent to manage, direct, and coordinate the efforts of four reconstruction design teams. Tasks include preparing master schedules to coordinate all project phases; monitoring schedules to assure compliance; monitoring design costs; providing a correspondence tracking system; reviewing design submissions, preliminary and final right-of-way plans, design drawings, special provisions, and specifications and estimates; conducting design review meetings and plan checks; providing constructability reviews; reviewing environmental work items; coordinating permit applications; standardizing design details; coordinating design and right-of-way acquisition activities; and coordinating with PENNDOT, environmental agencies, municipal officials, authorities, and utility companies.
