When world renowned architect David Chipperfield was selected to create new master plan for the University of Pennsylvania’s Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology, Marvin Waxman Consulting Engineers was included as key team member.
David Chipperfield Architects, based in London and Berlin, has been responsible for prestigious commissions in the U.S. and Europe. Included are the master plan for Museum Island and the Neues Museum restoration in Berlin. U.S. projects include the expansion of the St. Louis Art Museum; the Anchorage Museum of History and Art; and the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa. This will be Chpperfield’s first Philadelphia-area project.
The master plan aims to evaluates the museum’s space in the context of current and future objectives. The final plan will include implementation strategies and a concept for blending new and existing building components to create state-of-the-art exhibitions and research facilities.
