Urban Wins Project at Bradley International Airport

Urban Engineers was selected by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) to provide the schematic design for the airfield lighting vault at Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT.

The airfield lighting vault houses high-voltage power cables, current regulators, relay cabinets, and control panels to operate and control airfield lights.

The schematic design will involve an analysis of alternative locations for relocating the existing airfield lighting vault at the airport. Urban will identify equipment needed for the new vault and provide a construction cost estimate, concept level construction phasing, and schedule analysis to transition from the existing location to the new vault, while maintaining operations.

The Schematic Design of the Airfield Lighting Vault is the first phase of work toward design of the new Terminal B at Hartford International Airport, for which Urban was also selected. The existing airfield lighting vault will ultimately be relocated in advance of demolition of the existing Terminal B to make room for the new terminal.
