Urban Goes Green |

Urban’s Helene Brennan, PE, has taken her responsibilities as a member of Urban’s Leadership Circle beyond doing what’s right for Urban to doing what’s right for everyone.
Through her work, Urban has expanded its “Going Green” efforts by implementing several programs to promote recycling. Among the programs underway are:
Recycling cell phones, batteries, toner cartridges, and computer hardware
Joining and promoting the use of Philly Car Share
Purchasing “Energy Star” computers and monitors
Sponsoring ongoing “Sustainable Philadelphia” forums at the Academy of Natural
Sciences
Utilizing teleconferencing and “webinars” for meetings
Using “E-Copy” and .pdf files to reduce paper use
Providing LEED® training to staff
These initiatives have been complemented by building management’s efforts to recycle paper, glass, aluminum, and plastic, as well as conserving energy by using lights that turn on only when activity is present.
Brennan’s hard work through Urban’s Leadership Circle and her dedication to making both Urban and our community a better place has resulted in Urban’s increased dedication to conserve resources, reduce waste, recycle, and re-use materials.
