Bicycle/Pedestrian Open-End for NJDOT in High Gear |
|
|
Did you know that according to the National Highway Safety Traffic Association, on average, one pedestrian is injured in a traffic crash every eight minutes and every 111 minutes one pedestrian is killed.
Last year Urban was awarded a three-year open-end contract to assist the New Jersey Department of Transportation Office of Bicycle and Pedestrian Programs to help achieve the state’s goal of increasing use of real, non-motorized transportation options, and improving pedestrian and bicycle mobility and safety throughout the state.
Led by Dave Cox, PE, Urban’s Planning Practice has executed nearly 11 assignments for NJDOT.
These assignments include assessing problem locations for potential solutions, reviewing new road projects on the state system to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians, providing planning assistance and developing plans to help communities across the state provide safe and accessible bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and participating in outreach programs at school functions and conferences to extol the healthy virtues of bicycling and walking and to provide tips on how to do so safely.
