Urban and Sheward a Winning Combination Again |
|
|
The City of Philadelphia, Division of Aviation, has selected the Sheward Partnership, with Urban Engineers, to design the expansion of Terminal F at Philadelphia International Airport.
Since opening in 2001, Terminal F has evolved from serving primarily commuter air traffic (mostly turboprop planes) to sharing its 38 gate positions with larger, 50-passenger regional jets. Consequently, enplanements have increased more than three-fold and overcrowding of passenger holdroom areas has resulted. The purpose of this project is to plan and design the expansion and renovation of the terminal to provide increased passenger seating areas, more concessions, and additional baggage handling facilities.
The proposed expansion will add more than 35,000 square feet of space, including passenger seating and concession storage. In-line baggage handling will also be upgraded.
Urban’s role in the project will be to provide design for utility relocations, aircraft parking apron revisions, demand/capacity analysis for all utilities, maintenance of traffic phasing, and permitting to comply with stormwater regulations.
