Urban Answers the Call Again

The American Red Cross recently parked its Bloodmobile next to Urban’s Walnut Street Headquarters for the annual fall visit.

Each year, Urban has increasingly more employees who are willing to donate a pint of blood, and this trip was no different as 24 Urbanites responded, including two first-time donors.

According to the Red Cross, each pint of blood collected can save as many as three lives. For our 2008 combined blood drives, Urban has gifted 45 productive units of blood, which will save approximately 135 lives. Since the spring of 2005, Urban has contributed to saving over 500 lives.

The response from Urban’s employees continues a company-wide spirit of activism and caring about our community. Urban also participates in additional community activities, such as “Toys for Tots,” the United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia & Vicinity Corporate Run/Walk, and the Future City Competition for seventh and eighth grade students interested in the engineering profession.
