Naturally, MWCE is the Choice

Marvin Waxman Consulting Engineers, a division of Urban Engineers, was selected by SaylorGregg Architects to provide the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs for the approximately $75 million, 250,000-SF renovation of the Academy of Natural Sciences (Academy) in Center City Philadelphia.

Founded in 1812, the Academy is the oldest natural history museum and research institution in the country and remains world-renowned for its natural history collections, which include more than 17 million artifacts, and its library, which is regarded as one of the finest collections of natural history books, manuscripts, and art.

The renovations will facilitate several goals, including opening new exhibits, creating enhanced public spaces, developing more efficient work areas, achieving museum quality environments, and improving the building’s infrastructure to support its extensive collections, library, and laboratories.
