|
The Urban Land Institute (ULI) of Northern New Jersey has named the Meadowlands Rail Link and Sports Complex Rail Station as its 2009 Land Use Award winner in the Infrastructure/Transportation Category. The station was developed by the New Jersey Sports Exposition Authority with the assistance of Urban Engineers, Inc., prime construction management consultants to the Authority.
The ULI awards recognize leadership in public policy and the achievement of the full scope of the development process: design, planning, community development, construction, economic viability, marketing, management, and sustainability.
The project included construction of two new tracks to serve a new rail station at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The new tracks, each approximately 12,300 feet long, connect with New Jersey Transit’s Pascack Valley Line. The rail station features an island platform approximately 950 feet in length, and a waiting area for passenger queuing and shelter. The station will service the race track, the new Giants Stadium, the Arena and the new Xanadu Entertainment Complex, and will be operated by New Jersey Transit.
