Urban Awarded New Haven Fueling Facility Contract

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (ConnDOT) awarded a construction management and inspection services contract to Urban for the demolition, construction, and renovation of a fueling facility at the New Haven Rail Yard. The yard is a key maintenance facility for Metro North Railroad.

Building work for the fueling facility improvements include constructing a 100-foot by 30-foot locomotive enclosure with support rooms, pump house, sanding facility, off-loading canopy, containment slab, and fuel storage tanks. The project also includes renovating both the generator building and the fuel operators building.

Urban's responsibilities include checking for compliance with plans and specifications; project administration; coordination with state, city, and regional groups; and monitoring utility and Metro North Force Account work. Urban is also performing cost estimates and change order negotiations for ConnDOT.
