PennDOT Picks Urban for District 8-0 Projects |

Urban Engineers, Inc. (Urban) was selected by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, District 8-0, to provide construction inspection and construction management services for two contracts involving I-81 bridge and roadway projects. Located in Franklin County, the assignments include:
SR 0081, Section 054, is a $23 million job consisting of work on three structures, two dual structures on I-81 and one over I-81, just south of Exit 20. One of the mainline bridges, which spans an old railroad bed, will be removed and the area will be filled with embankment material to the current I-81 grade. The other bridge on I-81 will be removed and replaced with new structures. The bridge over I-81 (Woodstock Road) will be rehabilitated, including deck patching, parapet upgrades, pier and abutment patching and a new latex deck. Also as part of this project, a roughly one-mile stretch of I-81 will be rehabbed down to the subgrade with a new pavement to realign and re-profile the I-81 grades.
SR 0081, Section 0029, is a $19 million effort, including preservation and rehabilitation work to be performed at three I-81 mainline bridges and nine bridges located over I-81. The work will include milling and paving approaches, bridge deck repairs, deck replacements, structure widening, scarification and latexing, deck joint replacements, substructure repairs, construction of an auxiliary lane, and other miscellaneous construction.
