Urban Supports Boy Scout Jamboree

Urban Engineers sponsored an activity booth at the Boy Scouts of America, Cradle of Liberty Council’s 2009 Jamboree at Montgomery County’s Green Lane Park on Saturday May 2^nd. 

Urban was represented by Pat Dougherty from our Mechanicsburg Office. Pat was teamed with PennDOT District 6-0 Project Manager Elaine Elbich, PE and they provided supervision of hands-on activities in the Science Area of the Jamboree.

Pat supervised the Scouts in building “Puff Car” racecars and running them down an 8-ft. long racetrack. The “Puff Cars” were constructed by each participant from straws, paper clips, tape, an 8-1/2”x11” sheet of paper, and used pieces of Lifesavers candy for wheels. The cars were powered by puffing into their sails and seeing how far they could roll/slide down the 8’ long table/racetrack.
