Urban Providing Project Management Services to Utica, NY

Urban has been awarded a 2½  year contract to provide project management services to the City of Utica for its new downtown multi-modal facility.

The scope of the City’s project calls for the design and construction of a structure in downtown Utica that will act as a covered bus transfer facility on the ground level and provide parking for public transit riders and local businesses on the second, third, and fourth levels.  In addition, the ground level will contain ticket sales, a convenience store, public rest rooms, a bus driver rest area, and other offices for the transit operator, the Central New York Regional Transit Authority.  Additionally, the project envisions a pedestrian bridge connecting this new facility with an existing parking garage across an active urban street in the downtown area.  Later phases include two surface parking lots and a landscaped mall connecting the new structure with the surface lots. The estimated cost for the first phase of the project is approximately $12 million.  The City, which has secured grants from the federal government and the State of New York, intends to supplement these grants with local funding.

Urban is developing a project management plan, has prepared Requests for Proposals for design and legal services, and is actively engaged in assisting the City in facilitating their Design procurement.
