Urban Picked to Continue Connecticut Streetscape Project


The Town of Stonington, Connecticut has retained Urban to provide construction inspection and management services associated with streetscape improvements in downtown area of Mystic, Connecticut.

Phase 1 of the project involved new ADA-compliant sidewalks, relocated crosswalks, granite curbing, cobblestone-type pavers, new roadway pavement and drainage, benches, bicycle racks, and wayfinding signage. Historical lighting was also installed on a number of existing utility poles.

These project are being funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Urban’s responsibilities include monitoring the contractor’s construction activities, documenting all work per Connecticut Department of Transportation standard procedures, obtaining measurements necessary for the computation of final quantities, providing on-site testing and sampling of materials, and preparing construction change orders.
