Urban's Brown Helps Found Engineers' Club of Philadelphia, Widener University Chapter |

Urban’s Kevin Brown, a Construction Inspector, was instrumental in the recent founding of the Widener University Chapter of the Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia.
While a senior studying civil engineering at Widener, Brown was introduced to the Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia. After learning more about the organization and speaking with the Director, Brown learned that reaching out to young engineers through the creation of student chapters at local colleges and universities was one of the club’s priorities. Brown then took on the challenge of creating Widener’s student chapter.
Coordinating with the Dean and Assistant Dean of Engineering, as well as the department secretaries, email blasts were sent to engineering students, outlining the club and its benefits. Those who expressed interest were invited, along with the engineering faculty, to a meeting where Urban’s Robert M. Wright, PE, spoke about the club’s goals and benefits.
Following the meeting, Brown followed up with those who attended to gauge interest in forming a chapter. The discussion at the next meeting led to nominating officers, selecting a faculty advisor, and completing the new student organization application.
Brown’s hard work and continued follow up paid off. Widener recently approved the Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia student chapter as an official organization on campus.
