Area Food Banks Benefit from Urban Generosity |
Once again this year, the Urban Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Committee organized a company-wide effort to help replenish the shelves of area food banks by asking employees to donate food and/or money. Between March 1st and March 22nd, Urban’s various offices competed against each other to benefit the less fortunate. At stake were not only bragging rights, but also an additional $100 to be donated by Urban to the designated food bank of the winning office.
Despite the sluggish economy and a shorter time frame than last year, the competition was spirited. Coming out on top was the Buffalo office, whose employees donated an average of nearly $14 per person to the Food Bank of Western New York. Among the agencies benefiting were Philabundance, the Philadelphia region’s largest hunger relief organization; New Hope Ministries Food Bank; Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest PA; and South Jersey Food Bank
