One hundred fifty of Urban’s employees, partners and clients gathered to welcome Philadelphia’s Mayor Michael Nutter at the Philadelphia office to celebrate Urban’s winning of the City of Philadelphia’s Smart City. Smart Choice. video contest.

The video contest, intended to communicate and build on the successes of the City’s economic development campaign, allowed business owners to tell their peers why Philadelphia is a smart choice for their businesses in a video by completing the statement "Philadelphia is a Smart City and a Smart Choice for my business because..."

As part of the celebration, Urban’s President and CEO, Edward M. D’Alba, PE, thanked the Mayor for his ongoing support of Urban and announced that an outdoor café area in the new office space at Penn Mutual Towers will be named The Mayor’s Deck in honor of the Mayor and his predecessors. “For fifty-plus years, Urban has been privileged to work with the City of Philadelphia on numerous projects that led to the Philadelphia of today. We believe in the City, we believe in the Mayor, and we thank him for his continued support,” said D’Alba.

In addition to congratulating Urban for winning the Smart City. Smart Choice. video contest, the Mayor recognized Urban for its recent decision to sign a long-term lease with Penn Mutual Towers, thus keeping its headquarters in Philadelphia. “Recommitting to the City and expanding your space demonstrates the kind of commitment we are proud of,” said the Mayor. “It’s important to recognize our home teams – Urban is as much Philadelphia as pretzels and cheesesteaks.”

As a winner of the competition, Urban’s video has already appeared alongside other winners on the City’s business portal website and at the Philadelphia International Airport.
